Many home owners aren’t sure what the difference is between a house sitter and a Home Watch Professional. 

House sitters will generally live in your house while you are away.  Often, they will care for your pets.  The downside is they will have wear and tear on your house and use your utilities.  They are usually not a business and most often do not carry any  insurance for any damages that may occur.

Home Watch is a professional service that schedules regular on-site inspections of your property while you are away and will send you a report on the  status of your home.  A home watch professional is also bonded and insured.   

Home Watch professionals are trained to locate and report issues they observe at your home.  Some of the common issues may include rodent/insect infestation, mold, leaking pipes, furnace/HVAC malfunctions, open/unlocked/broken windows and doors, and weather damage. 

They will report minor issues before they become BIG problems.

If an issue is found, the Home Watch company will document it with photos and immediately report it to the owner. They can work on your behalf, if you choose, with local contractors to resolve the issue.

Home watch has been known by many names:  house check, caretaker,  property watch, property manager, or absentee home service.  Regardless  of the name, home watch provides a vital service on a regular schedule  while the home owner is away.

While most SureLock Home Watch clients own vacation homes that they occupy periodically throughout the year, we also take care of homes  for seasonal residents (aka Snowbirds), vacation apartments or condos,  professional or business travelers, deployed military personnel, new homeowners who will move in at a later date, home sellers who need to  move prior to the sale of their home, and owners of vacation rental  properties (VRBO, RBO).  We do not handle the direct rental of any property nor act as property managers
